Repairing My Brand New Dodge Challenger Hellcat - Some Dealers Really Suck!
I recently purchased a brand new "Last Call" edition Dodge Challenger Hellcat WB 6 speed in plum crazy purple and it arrived with a few issues. I reached out to the dealer for a resolution but they were ghosting me, so I decided to fix the car myself and this is what I had to do. No, I'm not looking for any sympathy. I just wanted to share my personal experience with purchasing an expensive car from Stellantis and perhaps save someone from the headaches that I endured.
Update: Wow! I'm getting a lot of hate because I chose to fix the car myself which I don't understand. The reason I chose to fix the car myself is because I know it will be done right! The second reason is because I didn't want some dealership employee taking my car for a joyride.

Why is an oil and filter service so expensive for a Maserati?

If you have seen any of my DIY videos, then you know I don't bring my car in for service and do all the work myself. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. REAL car guys aren’t building these vehicles. I have been wrenching on vehicles for 40 years. I don’t know if it’s time restraints or lack of caring during the building. UAW builds these vehicles, an the quality is a joke. Manufacturer’s blaming it on workers and workers blaming on cost cutting from Manufacturers. Whatever B.S. it is, sure the hell isn’t showing up in MRSP. I can build a vehicle in my driveway that blows away anything these manufacturer’s are giving us. As a consumer these quality control issues have made me stop buying. Pay high prices and still have recalls, quality issues, etc. etc. Excuses don’t cut it with me. No wonder auto industry is in such bad shape. Suits making millions to do a piss poor job. I do better work blind and drunk than this crap.

I took my Toyota Corolla to Firestone tire shop and had two of my sensors replaced, but they could not program it because it’s a Toyota , so they had to order a different sensor. Now I am taking it to a Toyota dealership cause it is under warranty. Some tire shops have no clue how to fix it. and it is just a waste of money.

I think most of us can’t understand why someone would pay so much for a car. But if you drove one that might change your perspective. This is a car that will change your common sense rationale. This is a man’s car, this is the way we think. We worry about all the other stuff later😊

You're obviously not a car guy if you have to wonder "why someone would pay so much for a car".

Man, that is one nice car.

Thanks! I have wanted a manual transmission hellcat since they came out and it didn't disappoint in terms of smiles per mile.

I would have NEVER, EVER, paid for those repairs! Especially when you've already payed what, $100,000 for that car!? I would have gone to that dealer and complained up and down until they fixed it! And made sure that there were other customers in the dealership at the time so they too could see what kind of dealer they were dealing with.

When the dealer is over 1000 miles away its a bit difficult to hop in the car and drive to the dealer to express your dissatisfaction. All I can do is warn others who plan to do business with them. Thankfully most of the repairs were very minor with exception of the air damn, which cost me 5 big ones. It sucks, but I was getting no where with the dealer via phone.

Dan bro. I back you over any dealership specially on recall/warranty work that they are trying to get out of. Recipe for disaster. I’ve used so many of your videos in the past to help me fix my cars and mostly my Cayenne Turbo, so I say, ignore the haters, as they are clearly not real “car guys” who get the whole situation. Keep it 💯

This is probably a stupid question … but what if i can’t put my car on a lift & “drain” it? I really thought u only had to “top off” the reservoir tank which i didn’t know was a reservoir i thought that was “all” the coolant you need! Can i pay jiffy lube to do this?

    • @DIYDanCars
      @DIYDanCars 6 днів тому

There are no stupid questions here. Lexus recommends that the coolant be changed every 100k miles. The service intervals for your car can be found in the owners manual. I would not recommend bringing your car to Jiffy Lube. Find a competent independent shop (not a chain) and have them perform the service. Jiffy Lube pretty much has kids working for them so its hit or miss if the job will be performed correctly. Best of luck!

100k is what you paid new.... In just two years it will be only worth half of that.... Stellantis products depreciate faster than a piano falling down a staircase....

What does this have to do with the problems he faced? If that were true, why isn't a Dodge Demon selling for half price now? The car he bought is a limited production manual transmission hellcat. I would bet money that it holds it value better than what you're projecting.

It sucks you had to fix that stuff but I get it. That’s a beautiful car. Enjoy it!

Thank you! The repairs are pretty minor and only took about an hour to do, but it still sucks that i had to do this to a new car.
